It was a beautiful Saturday morning in September when seventy-five women from across Western Michigan gathered for the annual GBC Women’s Connection Fall Kick-Off Brunch.  The food was delicious and the company was uplifting.  Rachel Matychuk, Lindsey Kuyt, and Darlene Gowdy all encouraged us through their songs of worship and praise to our awesome and Almighty God.  It was also a very touching moment to see all the ladies turn their hearts to God in focused prayer for the students and college.

Student testimonies put real faces to the prayers for the College.  Adam Wolf (a worship arts student) and Billie Jo Abbott (a student in the new adult and online education program) both shared how God has used Grace Bible College to change their hearts and lives to serve our Sovereign God more effectively.  It was encouraging to hear how many people in both the traditional and adult and online studies are finding out about the College online and deciding to enroll and attend.

The program ended with special speaker Darlene (Anderson) Gowdy from Minneapolis, Minnesota, sharing her moving testimony.  She talked about how God was especially close to her when she and her family experienced the incarceration of her husband.  She has a strong testimony of encouragement through the challenges to her faith, marriage, and family.  She shared how the Scriptures have encouraged her while her husband was away, and how through prayer and being upheld in prayer, she has continued to have a strong walk with the Lord.  She told how God met every need she had, and was her strength and husband (Isaiah 54:5; Jeremiah 3:14b).  Through her testimony we were encouraged to live and serve our Sovereign God and to trust Him for all our needs.

An offering was taken at the Fall Kick-Off Brunch to cover the expenses of the breakfast, with proceeds going towards purchasing umbrellas for the picnic tables which are directly outside of the new Student Commons and the dining room.

The brunch was a great success and blessing to everyone involved.  Join us in September 2012!
