Acceptance letters mailed to prospective members of the Class of 2017

Gettysburg College has sent acceptance letters to prospective members of the Class of 2017.

Applications totaled nearly 5,400, representing 46 states and 98 countries.

Accepted students can join the Class of 2017 Facebook group to connect with their future classmates. They can also find important updates and information on the Class of 2017 Facebook page and the Class of 2017accepted student website that features information on everything from orientation and first-year seminars to dining and housing. Accepted students can tag their tweets with #gburg2017.

Accepted and enrolled students and their families are invited to campus April 20 for Get Acquainted Day, an annual springtime celebration that offers opportunities to talk to current students, interact with professors from all of the academic departments, tour the campus community and more.

Accepted students are also encouraged to explore the Gettysburg dictionary and the campus photo gallery.

“This year’s applicant pool was comprised of exceptional students whose rich and diverse talents both in and outside of the classroom are inspirational,” said Director of Admissions Gail Sweezey. “I am impressed by their work, and I am eager to meet these students on campus as they begin to finalize their college choices.”

The Class of 2017 will eventually include approximately 700 members.

Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with a strong academic tradition that includes Rhodes Scholars, a Nobel laureate and other distinguished scholars among its alumni. The college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students and is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.
