Fall enrollment at AIB College of Business is up 7 percent over a year ago, according to official registrar figures released this week. Current total enrollment for full-time and part-time students is 920.
The increase follows the trend at Iowa State University and the University of Iowa, which both reported increased enrollments for Fall 2012. AIB officials cite a number of reasons for its positive enrollment upturn, including a strengthened emphasis on majors in core business fields.
“As a part of strategic planning, the AIB Board of Trustees earlier this year approved a new vision statement that promotes our bachelor of science degrees with exceptional business curricula,” AIB President Nancy Williams says. “AIB is strictly business.”
Students can earn bachelor of science degrees in accounting or business administration in three years at AIB. Associate of applied science degrees can be completed in two years. Full-time students’ tuition rate is locked in for the duration of their education at AIB, and students may choose from day classes, blended learning or online education.
AIB’s growing slate of competitive athletics has brought more student-athletes to campus, Williams says.
“This fall, the college began NAIA men’s and women’s soccer, competitive dance and a pep band,” she says. “The addition of soccer also has meant an increase of international students on campus, as well as students from out-of-state.”
Enrollment also has grown from students transferring to AIB to complete their bachelor of science degrees. “AIB now has articulation with all of the community colleges in Iowa, making for easy and seamless transfer,” Williams says.
A new Corporate Partner program introduced in August offers employees of qualifying business partners a reduced tuition rate.
“The Corporate Partner program provides an excellent opportunity for people already in the workforce to finish degrees or further their business education,” says Senior Director of Enrollment and Marketing Terry Peters.
