Since when is November an ideal time to start college classes?
August and September mark the traditional beginning of most academic years, with second semesters following in January. But at AIB College of Business, November also presents a great opportunity to enroll in classes – especially online sessions that allow students to earn college credits without ever leaving the comfort of their homes.
“Our courses are offered year-round, with new terms beginning in September, November, March and June,” says AIB President Nancy Williams. “Our term that begins Nov. 26 provides a great ‘second chance’ to students who, for whatever reason, didn’t get started earlier in the year or want to make a change without losing valuable time.”
Picking up classes during winter also is preferable for many adult students with jobs or families, Williams says. “Schedules often calm down after summer and fall activities end, and the cold winter months provide an opportune time to focus on studies,” she says.
Online education is particularly attractive to students who can’t conveniently attend classes on campus – and AIB has emerged as a national leader in that area.
According to a 2011 study by U.S. News & World Report, the online bachelor’s degree program at AIB College of Business is ranked among the top in the nation for teaching practices and student engagement.
“AIB offers 69 to 79 online classes each term, and AIB’s bachelor’s degrees in Accounting and Business Administration – as well as the majority of associate degrees – can be completed entirely online,” says Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Susan Cigelman. “Each online class at AIB is limited to 18 to 20 students who can structure completing assignments around their schedules, choosing when and where to complete the coursework. Plus, with online classes, bad weather is no obstacle.”
There is still time to enroll at AIB for the upcoming winter term, Williams says. “Our admissions executives are happy to work with students who want to enroll for our term beginning in November, or for March classes,” she says.
