Celebrating student work in undergraduate research, creative arts, and community engagement May 3 - 4

Ryan Bonner '14 and Isabelle Boguski '15 performed a hip-hop dance Novacane in Kline Theatre at last year's Celebration.

Gettysburg College students will showcase their achievements in undergraduate research, creative arts, and community engagement on Friday and Saturday, May 3 to 4, on campus.

Dozens of panel discussions, posters, dramatic productions, student films, and visual artworks will be presented during Celebration 2013: Colloquium on Undergraduate Research, Creative Activity, and Community Engagement. The fifth annual event will bring together a wide range of students as they share their great work from the past year.

Approximately 300 students and 90 faculty mentors from all class years and academic departments will take part. A complete schedule is online. The public is welcome to attend all of the presentations and performances.

Presentations on Friday, May 3, will take place from 4 to 6:45 p.m. and on Saturday, May 4, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m.

Last year, student presentations covered a range of topics, from the effects of vehicle emissions at drive-through restaurants to reflections on public service in Nicaragua to a hip-hop dance performance Novacane.

In addition to the annual colloquium, undergraduate research opportunities are plentiful at Gettysburg College.

Founded in 1832, Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences with a strong academic tradition. Alumni include Rhodes Scholars, a Nobel laureate, and other distinguished scholars. The college enrolls 2,600 undergraduate students and is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to the Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania.
