Google Education Summit (July 2012) Presenters

The Google Education Summit, to be held July 9-13, 2012, has limited space available. The summit is a five-day, hands-on conference designed for educators and instructors seeking to develop 21st century skills. Participants will receive three graduate credits and a Google Chromebook laptop, while exploring cutting edge technologies with a variety of renowned session presenters.

About the Presenter: Molly Schroeder is an Elementary Technology Integration Specialist for Edina Public Schools, near Minneapolis, MN. She is a Google Certified Teacher and Google Apps for Education Certified Trainer. She also holds a certificate in Educational Technology and Gifted Education.

Session: Technology Resurrection: How Google’s First Chromebook School went from Zero to Cloud

Session Overview: Join Peter Iles, as he discusses how Grace Lutheran Church in Oshkosh, WI adapted a new approach to education technology, and what it took to implement a 1:1 initiative utilizing Google Chromebooks. Learn about cloud computing, Web 2.0 projects, and Chromebook roll-out – from initial purchase to management to instruction.

About the Presenter: Peter Iles is a 2007 graduate of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. He is currently serving as Principal, Technology Director, and 7th/8th grade teacher at Grace Lutheran School in Oshkosh, WI. In 2011, Grace became the first school in the U.S. to subscribe to Google’s Chromebook program. Peter’s previous speaking engagements include Google’s Headquarters both in Chicago, IL, and Austin, TX.

Session: Teaching and Learning with Google Apps: From Implementation to Authentic In-School Practice

Session Overview: Discover the process of implementing Google apps in a K-12 school district. Topics include: Piloting Google Apps, offering professional development and training opportunities, on-going support for staff, and addressing challenges.

About the Presenter: Danielle Herro is the Instructional Technology Administrator for Oconomowoc Schools, in Oconomowoc, WI.
