David Rendon of CaƱon City, Colo., was selected by the faculty at AIB College of Business as the Business Administration Associate Degree Student of the Year for 2011-2012.
“David is one of the most positive and respectful students we have at AIB. He always has a smile on his face,” said Assistant Professor Ann Wright, department chair of business administration.
Rendon has excelled academically at AIB, being named a Business Adminstration Student of the Term in the fall of 2011. He also was selected for the 2012 edition of Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.
“David Rendon is an outstanding student,” said Professor Gregg Johnson, faculty advisor for the AIB chapter of Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE). “Not only does he excel in my classes, but he has also taken on the challenge of being the SIFE president, and he is excelling at that.”
SIFE is an international organization that uses business concepts to promote the development of community outreach programs by college students. Presentations of the results of the student programs are judged by corporate executives in regional and national contests around the world. AIB’s SIFE team won at the regional competition in Minneapolis and competed at the national level in Kansas City this past spring.
Rendon is employed in the college’s library and assists a professor in checking student work. In his spare time, he enjoys playing the guitar, writing fiction, painting and walking his dogs.
Rendon received his associate in applied science degree in Business Administration and Leadership in June. He now is working toward a bachelor of science degree in Business Administration through AIB’s “Degree in 3” program. He plans to pursue an MBA at Drake University following his graduation from AIB in 2013.
