Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz will speak to students at AIB College of Business on Thursday, Oct. 25, urging them to cast their votes in the Nov. 6 general election.
The program, sponsored by AIB’s Student Government Association, will begin at 10:45 a.m. in the Activities Center at the college, 2500 Fleur Drive. The public is invited to attend.
For many college students, the upcoming election represents their first opportunity to vote. Schultz will answer questions about voter registration and the process for casting absentee ballots if students prefer to vote in their hometown elections instead of in Polk County.
“We want students to understand that it’s not just important to vote because it’s their civic duty,” says AIB Student Government Association president Nick Winterberg. “It’s our goal also to help them see why they should care about the issues.”
The Student Government Association will provide free pizza and door prizes for the students.
